School Organization

At the beginning of the school year the Lebanon Junction School was organized on the six-six plan. Under such an organization pupils are classified as grade students, Junior high school students, and Senior high school students. Under the present organization there are seven teachers in the grade department and six teachers in the junior-senior high school department. This plan of organization has proved to be a success, and no one would think of going back to the old eight-four organization. The seventh and eighth grade pupils profit by such an organization because it places them in their own age group with de- partmental work and better trained teachers. It also gives them the use of better library facilities and the use of the science laboratory.

The Senior High School is composed of the tenth, eleventh and twelfth grades, with an enrollment of 58 students. Students of this department are more mature than in the other two departments, and they are given an opportunity to select certain electives which will help them in their particular lines of interest. The boys and girls who finish the twelfth grade of the department are prepared for college entrance, or they have a training that will enable them to go into some profitable employment.

The Junior High School is composed of the seventh, eighth, and ninth grades, with an enrollment of 114 students. During the three years in this department, a thorough training is given in the fundamentals, and emphasis is placed on guidance work. The grades are composed of groups from the first grade to the sixth grade, with an enrollment of 285 students. The grades have enjoyed a very successful year. The large enrollment necessitated the adding of one new member to the faculty. A very high grade of work has characterized the grades from the first to the sixth. Some very much- needed equipment has been added and a number of projects have been carried on by various grades during the year.

Attendance for the year throughout the entire school has been unusually good. The percentage of attendance based on the enrollment for the first seven months was 92.5. The grade with the best attendance was the fifth, with 95.1 percent. Good attendance bears fruit and as a result the number of failures for the year will be reduced to a minimum.
