In February 1896, Casper Herps deeds this 9.5 acres tract to his son, George B. Herps. It was one of two tracts that Casper had purchased from John F. Crist in 1862.

This indenture made and entered into this 25th day of February, 1896 between Casper Herps, party of the first part, and his son George B. Herps, party of the second part, for and in consideration of the natural love and affection which the party of the first part hath and bears to the party of the second part, and one dollar in hand paid, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, the party of the first part for the above consideration hath this day bargained, give and convey with covenant of general warranty to the party of the second part, his heirs and assigns a certain tract of land lying in Bullitt County, Kentucky on the county road leading from Cedar Grove Church to Cane Springs and being the same bought of John F. Crist to contain nine and one half acres more or less recorded in Book P, pages 167, 168, 169. John F. Crist bought the same from his mother Sophia Wethers, recorded Book P, page 57, the timber now on the land is excluded and not conveyed in this deed. In testimony whereof the said C.
