In 1809, Edward Frye sold Shepherdsville lot #9 (old plan), which became lot #37 in the new town plan, to Michael Troutman. He was very careful to describe its location with regard to the surrounding lots.
Bullitt County Deed Book B, Pages 288-289
This indenture made the 3rd day of April 1809 between Edward Frye of the county of Bullitt and Commonwealth of Kentucky of the one part, and Michael Troutman of the said county and Commonwealth aforesaid of the other part.
Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of $214 to me in hand paid by the said Michael Troutman, the receipt of which I do hereby acknowledge, doth grant, bargain and sell unto the said Michael Troutman a lot of ground in the town of Shepherdsville which lot was known in the original plan of said town by lot No. 9, it lying and being in the second row of lots from the river adjoining to a lot claimed by Benjamin Stansbury, and it being the third lot from teh lot where James Brown did live on, and was living on until his death, and in the same row of lots also it being opposite to the large sink hole lot that lies adjoining to the street next to the river on the one end and opposite the third lot back of the jail lot on the other end, also it being the lot of ground which was conveyed to me on the 28 day of December 1801 by James and Elizabeth Simson, and which was committed to record in the said county.
To have and to hold the within mentioned lot with singular all the appurtenances thereunto belonging unto the said Michael Troutman and his heirs forever, whereby I will warrant and forever defend the said lo of ground from the claim or claims of me or my heirs forever, notwithstanding the said lot to be subject to any change or alteration that the trustees by their authority may deem necessary to make. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hadn and fixed my seal. (signed) Edward Frye
