On 12 Mar 1853, the following two deeds were presented in the County Clerk's office to be recorded. In them John B. Summers and Solomon N. Brooks swapped two pieces of land that were located near the Shepherdsville to Louisville Plank Road. Apparently each owned a tract on the opposite side of the Plank Road from the rest of their land which they wished to swap. As Brooks' tract was larger than that of Summers, Summers included a payment of $584.31 as well.

This indenture made and entered into this __ day of __ 1853 by and between John B. Summers and Jane his wife of the county of Bullitt, and state of Kentucky of the one part and Solomon N. Brooks of the county and state aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth that the said John B. Summers and wife for and in consideration of a deed this day, made to them by the aforesaid S. N. Brooks and wife (reference is had thereto) have granted bargained, sold and swapped and by these presents do grant, bargain sell and swap unto the said S. N. Brooks the following boundary of land lying, situate, and being in the county of Bullitt and state of Kentucky, cut off from John B. Summers' place by the Plank Road running from Louisville to Shepherdsville, to wit.
Beginning at the stake at the edge of the Plank Road and running thence with Yenawine's Mill Road S 89° W 6 poles, 16 links to a division corner between John B. Summers and school house, thence with their division line N 3 1/4° W 20 poles to the middle of the Big Road, thence with the same N 43° E 31 poles to the Plank Road, thence with the same S 22° W 12 poles, S 21° W 14 poles, S 15 1/2° W 19 poles to the beginning containing one and three-fourth acres, be the same more or less.
Now for the consideration aforesaid the said John B. Summers and wife do hereby covenant to and with the said S. N. Brooks that they will and their executors and administrators shall forever warrant and defend the title of the aforesaid one and three-fourth acres against the claims of all and every person claiming or to claim the same. In testimony whereof the said John B. Summers together with Jane his wife have hereunto set their hands and seals the day and date above written.

This indenture made, and entered into this __ day of __, 1853, by and between S. N. Brooks and Elizabeth E. his wife of the county of Bullitt and state of Kentucky of the one part, and John B. Summers of the county and state aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth that the said S. N. Brooks and wife, for and in consideration of a deed made to said S. N. Brooks by John B. Summers for one and 3/4 acres and for the further consideration of the sum of $584.31 this day paid and secured to be paid, have granted, bargained and sold and by these presents do grant, bargain and sell unto the said John B. Summers, his heirs and assigns, the following tract of land, situate, lying and being in the county of Bullitt and state of Kentucky, cut off from S. N. Brooks' place by the plank Road running from Louisville to Shepherdsville, containing 17 1/2 acres be the same more or less, and bounded as follows, to wit.
Beginning at the intersection of the Plank Road with the old road, thence with the old road N 14° E 12 poles, N 31° E 32 poles, 14 links, thence leaving the road N 89° E 5 1/2 poles to a stone, division corner between S. N. Brooks and John B. Summers, thence N 19° E 134 poles to a divison corner between J. B. Summers and Joseph Sanders, thence N89° W 16 poles to the plank road, thence with the same N 21° W 96 poles, S 4 1/2° W 10 poles, S 14° W 24 poles, S 18 1/2° W 13 poles, S 22 1/2° W 28 poles to the beginning.
To have and to hold the same unto himself, his heirs or assigns forever, and the said S. N. Brooks and Elizabeth E. his wife hereby covenant with the said John B. Summers that they will, and their heirs, executors and administrators shall forever warrant and defend the title to the said John B. Summers, his heirs and assigns, against the claims of all persons claiming or to claim the same. In testimony whereof the said S. N. Brooks together with Elizabeth E. Brooks his wife have hereunto set their hands and seals the day and year above written.
