John Rickerson to Wilhite Carpenter - Part of a Town Lot

John and Eliza Rickerson sold the house and lot they had purchased from H. O. Maraman to Wilhite Carpenter in August 1874.

This indenture made this 25th day of August 1874 by and between John Rickerson and Eliza his wife of the first part and W. Carpenter of the second part, all of the county of Bullitt, state of Kentucky.

Witnesseth that party of the first part has this day sold and by these presents does hereby bargain, sell and convey to party of the second part one house and lot of ground in Shepherdsville, county and state aforesaid, adjoining the old brick clerk's office and fronting Main Street, being the same lot purchased by said party of the first part from Henry O. Maraman which is recorded in Deed Book N, page 293, fronting on Main Street 39 feet and running back to the Craycroft lot, now owned by James F. Smith; said lot conveyed by R. H. Field to Francis Maraman devise of W. W. Maraman dec'd and by F. Maraman to Henry O. Maraman and G. W. Maraman, and by said G. W. Maraman to H. O. Maraman, for which party of second part agrees to pay to party of first part $300, $174 is in hand paid, the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged, the remainder to be paid to the said party of the first part as he may want it without interest. And the said party of the first part does hereby forever warrant and defend the title with all its improvements and appurtenances thereunto belonging with deed of general warranty to party of the second part, his heirs or assigns forever. And Eliza Rickerson, wife of the party of the first part does hereby relinquish her right of dower. Witness our hands this day and date first above written.
