The trustees of the Methodist Church sold Shepherdsville lots 5 and 6 to Dr. James A. Hoffman, the same two lots they had earlier purchased from R. J. Meyler of Bowling Green. This appears to be the first property owned by Dr. Hoffman in town.

This indenture made and entered into this the 10th day of March 1891 by and between D. M. Bates, S. W. Caldwell and T. C. Chappell, trustees of the parsonage property of the Shepherdsville Circuit of the Methodist Episcopal Church South of Bullitt County, Kentucky and their successors in office forever, party of the first part and J. A. Hoffman of the same county and state, party of the second part.
Witnesseth that the party of the first part, for and in consideration of the sum of ($75.00) seventy five dollars cash in hand paid, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, have granted, bargained and sold, and hereby sell, convey and deliver to the said J. A. Hoffman, his heirs and assigns forever the following described real estate situated in the town of Shepherdsville, Bullitt County, Kentucky, being lots 5 & 6 of said town, beginning at a stake where Plumb Street crosses Third Street, thence running south with Plumb Street to an alley running between the old Joyce "mill lot" and the lots herein conveyed, thence running east with said alley to School Alley, thence north with School Alley to Third Street, thence with Third Street to the point of beginning, being the same lots conveyed to the first party on the 28th day of October 1889 by R. J. Meyler and wife (see deed recorded in deed book No. 28 page 371-2, Bullitt County Court Clerk's office), the party of the first part hereby agrees to and with the second party to warrant and forever defend the title to the property herein conveyed against the claims of all persons whomsoever with covenant of General Warranty.
