Rickerson to Troutman Mortgage

In July 1881, to secure a debt owed to H. F. Troutman, Jack and Lizzie Rickerson placed a mortgage on several town lots and structures, as shown below. This was a second mortgage of two of the lots.

This deed of mortgage made and entered into this 19th day of July 1881 by and between J. I. Rickerson and Elizabeth Rickerson his wife of the first part and H. F. Troutman of the second part, all of the county of Bullitt and state of Kentucky.

Witnesseth whereas I J. I. Rickerson, party of the first part, are indebted to the said H. F. Troutman, party of the second part, in the sum of $253.67 evidenced by a promissory note bearing even date herewith bearing interest from date until paid at 8% per annum, now in order to secure the payment of said note, the said J. I. Rickerson and Elizabeth Rickerson his wife, parties of the first part, do hereby mortgage, sell, transfer and put in pledge the following described real estate situated in the town of Shepherdsville, Bullitt County, Ky., to wit.

One blacksmith shop and lot, now occupied by Al Snawder, and one old log carpenter shop now occupied by the said J. I. Rickerson and lot and one storeroom and lot now occupied by Troutman & Bros, said lots fronts on Second Street, corners on Main Street, being a part of lots Nos. 41, 42 to have and to hold said houses and lots until the said note is fully paid. This mortgage is subject to a mortgage held by Meyler & Carpenter on said property.
