Rickersons to Troutman Bros - A Town Lot Mortgage

In 1891, to secure a debt to Troutman Bros, the Rickersons mortgaged the lot where the store was constructed to the Troutmans, as shown below.

This mortgage made and entered into this the 4th day of May 1891 by and between Elizabeth C. Rickerson and J. I. Rickerson her husband of the first part and Troutman Bros, that is N. F. Troutman, R. L. Troutman, and C. F. Troutman of the second part, all of the County of Bullitt and State of Kentucky.

Witnesseth that the said J. I. Rickerson, party of the first part, is justly indebted to the said second party in the sum of $214.50 evidenced by the promissory note of said first party of even date herewith bearing interest from date until paid, and due and payable twelve months after date to the said Troutman Bros.

Now in order to secure the payment of said note and interest the said first parties hereby sell, mortgage and put in lien to the said second parties the following described property: one house and lot situated in the town of Shepherdsville, Bullitt County, Kentucky situate on the southeast corner of Main and Second Streets fronting on Main Street thirty-eight feet running back seventy-two feet and eight inches.

To have and to hold the same unto the said second parties, their heirs and assigns until said note and interest is fully paid and then to be null and void. Witness the hands of the first parties this the 4th day of May 1891. (signed) Lizzie C. Rickerson
