In 1849 William C. Rickerson, son of John Rickerson, purchased 8 acres of land near Shepherdsville from Frederic Travis who had obtained the land in a suit against John H. Baker.

This indenture made and entered into this 13th day of December in the year of Christ 1849 between Frederic Travis and Harriett his wife of the first part, and William C. Rickerson of the second part, all of the county of Bullitt and State of Kentucky.
Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of $160.00 in hand paid by the party of the second part to the parties of the first part have bargained, sold and conveyed and by these presents do bargain, sell, alien, release, convey and confirm unto the party of the second part, his heirs &c a certain lot of land containing eight acres less a small reservation of forty feet upon the east side, lying near to the town of Shepherdsville and adjoining the land of Henry F. Kalfus and the 4 acre lot of land upon said Travis now lives, and is the same bought by said Travis under a decree of the Bullitt Circuit Court in the name of Mathew Wilson against John H. Baker. To have and to hold the said described tract of eight acres of land aforesaid with the exception of forty feet upon the east side next to Kalfus running from said Travis' four acre lot to the Shepherdsville & Key's Ferry road which is reserved by said Travis.
And the said parties of the first part for themselves, their heirs &c do covenant and agree to and with the said party of the second part, his heirs &c that they will and their heirs shall forever warrant and defend the title ot the land to the said party of the second part by this deed of general warranty against the claims of all persons claiming or to claim the same.
