Matthew Wilson to Francis Maraman - 2 Tracts

This deed, written on 13 Jun 1834, transferred 2 small tracts of land on the north side of Salt River near Shepherdsville from Matthew Wilson to Francis Maraman. The deed mentioned the the roadway granted to Maraman by John W. Beckwith.

This indenture made this 13th day of June 1834 between Matthew Wilson and Martha T. Wilson, his wife, of the city of Louisville, county of Jefferson, and state of Kentucky of the one part, and Francis Maraman of the county of Bullitt, and same state of the other part. Witnesseth that the said Matthew Wilson and wife for and in consideration of the sum of $250 current money to them in hand, paid before the sealing and delivery hereof, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, have granted, bargained and sold and by these presents do grant, bargain and sell, alien, release, convey and confirm unto the said Francis Maraman a certain tract or parcel of land situate lying and being on Salt River on the north side thereof and adjoining the Town of Shepherdsville, being part of Peter Shepherd's 900 acre survey and bounded as follows, to wit.

Beginning at a large beech on the bank of Salt River, one of the corners of the Town of Shepherdsville, thence North 6 1/2° East 17 1/2 poles to a stake, thence South 83 1/2° East 80 poles to a stake, thence South 6 1/2° West 33 poles to Salt River, thence with the meanders thereof to a point opposite the beginning, thence to the beginning, containing 18 acres, 3 roods and 20 1/2 poles, but supposed to contain 19 acres, excepting nevertheless out of said tract that part next to Salt River which was sold by John W. Beckwith to said Francis Maraman for a road to his Maraman's ferry and which part is not hereby conveyed or intended to be conveyed.

Also a certain tract or parcel of land on the north side of Salt River adjoining the above mentioned tract and containing six and three-quarters acres, and bounded as follows, to wit. Beginning at John McGee's southwestwardly corner where a sugar tree and beech stood on the bank of Salt River, thence South 58° West 44 poles to an ash on the bank of the river, corner of the before mentioned tract of 19 acres, thence North 6 1/2° East 64 poles to a stake in McGee's line, thence with said line South 35° East 50 poles to the beginning.

To have and to hold the said tracts or parcels of land and appurtenances unto him the said Francis Maraman, his heirs, executors, administrators and assigns, and to his and their only proper use, benefit and behoof forever. And the said Matthew Wilson and Martha T. his wife covenant and agree t oand with the said Francis Maraman that they will and their heirs shall warrant and forever defend the said two tracts or parcels of land and appurtenances unto him the said Francis Maraman, his heirs, executors and assigns from themselves, their heirs &c, and from the claim or claims of all and every person or persons lawfully claiming the same. In testimony whereof the said Matthew Wilson and Martha T. his wife hereto set their hands and seals on the day and year before written. (signed) Matthew Wilson, Martha T. Wilson.

Commonwealth of Kentucky, Bullitt County, to wit. I David B. Abernathy, deputy for Noah C. Summers, clerk of the county court for the county aforesaid, do certify that this deed from Matthew Wilson and Martha T. his wife to Francis Maraman wsa this day produced to me in said county and acknowledged by Matthew Wilson to be his act and deed. And the said Martha T., being examined by me privily and apart from her husband, declared that she did freely and willingly seal and deliver the said writing, and wishes not to retract it. And acknowledged the said deed again shown and explained to her to be her act and deed. Whereupon the said deed together with this certificate hath been duly admitted to record in my office.
