Caldwell & Rickerson to Wilhite Carpenter - 181 Acres

In May 1877, Margaret Caldwell joined with her daughter and son-in-law Lizzie and Jack Rickerson to sell 181 acres of land lying south of Shepherdsville to Wilhite Carpenter in exchange for a cash payment and the transfer of a town house and lot by Carpenter to Lizzie Rickerson as shown below.

This indenture made this 11th day of May 1877 by Margaret Caldwell, J. I. Rickerson and Lizzie Rickerson his wife of the first part and Wilhite Carpenter of the second part, all of Bullitt County, Kentucky.

Witnesseth that in consideration of $100 in hand paid and the receipt hereby acknowledged and the further consideration of $125 due and payable on the 7th May 1879, evidenced by note to J. I. Rickerson, note to bear interest until due, and the further consideration of a conveyance by the second party to Lizzie Rickerson of the first part of a house and lot in Shepherdsville conveyed by John Mooney to the second party and this day conveyed by the second party to said Lizzie Rickerson, they the said first parties hereby sell, convey and deliver unto he second party the following property, to wit.

All the first parties right, title, interest and claim of in and to 181 acres of land more or less lying on the waters of Salt River about two miles and one half south of Shepherdsville formerly owned by George W. Bowman deceased and the same conveyed to the first parties and G. W. Caldwell by G. W. Bowman's heirs by deed dated 15th of March 1871 and duly entered of record in the Bullitt Count Court Clerk's office in Deed Book S, page 337 & 338, which is referred to and the first parties covenant to warrant and defend the title to the interests owned by them and herein conveyed unto the second party and heirs and assigns forever by this deed of general warranty.
